Glimpse of a Gracious Guardian

In the bustling environment of YKPao School, where learning and growth flourish, there exists a quiet yet impactful presence: our dedicated security guard. Known for his warm greetings and positive demeanor, he embodies the spirit of joy amidst the daily routines of school life. 

As I approached him for our interview, I noticed a mix of excitement and nervousness in his demeanor. The night before, he had prepared extensively, writing down thoughts and reflections to express his feelings about his role. 

"I don’t know if I can answer all your questions well," he admitted with a humble smile. This honesty set the tone for our conversation, making it clear that while he might struggle with words, I can feel that his enthusiasm for his job shone brightly.

When I asked him what he enjoys most about his work, he paused thoughtfully. "I find joy in the little things," he said. "I see the same faces every day, and I love to greet the students and teachers. It makes me feel like I'm part of something bigger." 

"My day typically starts with a thorough walk around the premises to ensure everything is secure. I make it a point to greet everyone I see; those small moments of connection really set a positive tone for the day." For him, each greeting is not just a routine; it’s a chance to connect and build a sense of community. With every nod and friendly smile, he strives to create an atmosphere of safety and belonging, making individuals feel acknowledged and valued.

"I feel happy and occupied here at YKPao," he said, his eyes lighting up with enthusiasm. He embraces the predictability of his tasks, finding comfort in the rhythm of his daily responsibilities, from monitoring the grounds to ensuring the safety of students.

"Sometimes, I just don't have the words," he confessed. “I prepared a lot for this interview last night, but it turns out that I still can’t answer some of the questions.” 

Yet, this does not hinder his ability to connect with others. He communicates through gestures—a friendly wave, a warm smile—that convey his positivity without needing to rely heavily on words. This non-verbal communication speaks volumes about his genuine care for the students and staff.
