Striking out onto YuYuan Road, I encountered a figure who has called this bustling city home for over two decades. With a warm smile and an observant eye, she spoke of city life in what locals lovingly referred to as "魔都" — the Magic City.
Casually scrolling through her phone, she described the city as a vibrant and dynamic hub of fashion and finance. "Shanghai is cleaner and more orderly than many other places," she noted. Indeed, the city is committed to maintaining a pleasant living environment, and the adjective magic does capture its vibrant essence.
As a recommendation for travel, she quickly pointed to the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai Disneyland. "These are places that embody what Shanghai has to offer," she said, referring to the bustle, splendor, and joy they bring to both locals and wide-eyed visitors alike.

Her attitude towards travel reflects a thoughtful approach: "Places like the Maldives are great for a short break, but I wouldn't like to live there long term." There was a smile on her face upon mentioning the location. Her eyes sparkled with the thought of the blue turquoise water and bright blue sky.
Today, as a freelancer, she said she was happy with her career choice. “My workday is typical, nothing sensational. But if I had to do it all over again, I would still be a freelancer," she spoke with a level-headed, even cadence to life.
As in her words, the most enjoyable aspect of her work is the freedom to do as she wishes. Adhering to the principle of “walking steadily on your own path, regardless of what others say”, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a genuine heart and not yielding to external pressure.
Throughout our conversation, she explained that she doesn't possess any particularly significant experience or dramatic turning point from her Shanghai years. "There weren't any bold failures or prominent rises," she shrugged. Like most young people in Shanghai, she is reluctant to speak about her private enterprise and prefers not to dwell upon past achievements.
Looking forward, she plans to visit the Maldives and embrace its stunning island landscape. She enjoys spending time with friends, listening to music, and watching movies—activities that enrich his life.
Talking to this introspective woman, who appreciates the everyday rhythm of Shanghai, offered great insights into the busy city's pulse. Her routine regimen, down-to-earth travel outlook, and respect for personal freedom portray a vibrant soul in the hectic environment of one of the world's most vibrant cities.
